My lilac bushes are getting holes in the leaves and dying from little tiny black bugs I guess…any suggestions?
There are several tiny, black beetle-types of insects that chew leaves on many trees and shrubs. It's my guess, without seeing them, that what you have are probably among these. Most of these can be controlled by sprays of systemic pesticides from Bayer that include the ingredient imidacloprid. There are also granular formulations of this that can be applied to the soil to help provide a longer period of protection. If you prefer more organic methods, horticultural oils like Neem Oil will work as will the product Spinosad, a derivative of the brewing process that has pesticidal properties.
